A green and future-conscious design-label that focuses on environment ,ecologic design and sustainability.
Our goal is to provide interior products that are produced with a minimal environmental footprint and maximal life-cycle through durable construction and good timeless design with a little poetry and soul.
The small and exclusive collection is produced in the Netherlands and available trough a selected network of dealers. A new design will be presented each year.
All designs (except “spare”) are made of “ECOLOTEK ” a new very environment-friendly compostable material developed by PLANKTON.

우리의 목표는 자연환경에 영향을 덜 끼치며 견고한 구조로 내구성이 뛰어나면서도 약간의 시적 영감을 가지는, 오래도록 변치않는 좋은 디자인의 인테리어 제품을 제공하는 것입니다.
독자적으로 소량의 컬렉션만이 네덜란드에서 만들어지며, 특정 판매상을 통해서만 구입가능합니다. 매년 새로운 디자인이 발표됩니다.
모든 디자인제품들은(“spare”를 제외하고) PLANKTON 이 개발한 새롭고 매우 친환경적 생분해성 재료인 “ECOLOTEK” 으로 만들어졌습니다.

The lamp is based on, and tribute to the universal art of hand shadows; making shadows on the wall using your hands to create birds, rabbits, and other figures. Playing with light and hand shadows is a centuries old past time long before electric light was invented. “BIRD IN HAND” plays with this concept: All of the hands are positioned to look like a flock of birds, flying out in circles. The shadows cast on the wall looks like birds. This results in a very expressive, dynamic and striking looking lamp , with layers of humor and poetry hidden in the design.

“BIRD IN HAND” large pendant light

  이 램프는 보편적인 손그림자 예술(손을 사용하여 벽에 새, 토끼나 다른 여러모양의 그림자를 만드는 것)을 모방 또는 바탕으로 했다. 빛과 손 그림자 놀이는 전기불이 발명되기 몇백년 전부터 있었다. “BIRD IN HAND”의 개념은 이렇게 표현된다. : 모든 손들이 원형으로 날아가는 한 무리의 새떼처럼 보이도록 배치된다. 그림자는 마치 새떼처럼 벽에 드리워진다. 이로서 디자인속에 숨은 해학과 시적 감흥의 표현이 풍부하고, 역동적이며 인상적인 램프가 된다.

J.P. Meulendijks (1972) independent designer.
Designer of furniture ,lightning, and other interior products for various
international clients. Designs are made from concept till production-ready technical drawings, and in some cases: end-products. His work is often published and exhibited.
Some designs are awarded, others part of a museum-collection.
Besides designing for international clients, J.P. also designs, develops, produces, and distributes his own design label “nu-collection”.
In 2010 the focus is put on environment ,ecologic design and sustainability.
After a long research: a new biodegradable material was developed: ” ECOLOTEK “.
Together with new designs and a new mission: this resulted in a new label : PLANKTON

” I like to describe my work as: fresh, soulfull, minimal, with a slice of humor,
designed by my own way of thinking, brought back to the essence of the idea.
I like to use iconic and archetype images, forms and objects, which everybody will
recognize, which I will interpret and use in a different way. I try to put a little poetry
and soul into a object. The idea usually defines the design of the product.”

컨셉 디자인들은 주로 제작가능한 기술적 도면단계까지만 만들어지며, 어떤 경우는 최종제품까지도 이어진다. 그의 작품은 종종 출판 또는 전시된다. 어떤 디자인은 수상을 했고, 박물관의 컬렉션도 되었다.
그는 전세계의 고객들을 위한 디자인 뿐만 아니라, 자신의 디자인 라벨 “nu-collection” 으로 디자인하여 개발, 생산, 보급하기도 한다.
2010년의 초점은 환경, 생태 디자인, 영속성에 두고있다.
오랜 연구 끝에 새로운 자연분해성의 재료인 ‘ECOLOTEK’ 을 개발하였고,
새로운 디자인과 사명을가지고 ‘PLANKTON’ 이라는 새로운 레이블을 만들게 된다.

“나는 나의 작품을 이렇게 설명하고 싶다 : 신선하고, 감성이 충만하며, 미니멀한, 그리고 약간의 유머, 내 자신만의 사고방식으로 디자인했고, 그 사고의 본질로 회귀했다.”
“나는 모든 사람이 인식 가능할, 그리고 내가 다른 방식으로 해석하고 이용될 수 있는, 상징과 전형적인 이미지, 형태와 물체를 사용하는 것을 좋아한다. 나는 대상에 시적 감성과 영혼을 넣으려 노력한다. 그 생각이 보통 그 제품의 디자인을 정의한다.”
