이태원에 새로 생긴 문화공간, “꿀”. 최정화 작가의 설치미술품을 감상, 아니 그 위에 앉아서 차를 마실 수 있는 곳. 루이비통 쇼파와 “요술공주 밍키” 낙서… 작품과 일상을 구분해보세요. 여러분이 앉아있는 그 자리가 의자인가요, 작품인가요?

꿀은 신생 복합문화공간(대표 최정화)으로서, “살 빠 Sal Bar”(1996-2008)이후 ‘예술과 일상의 관계 회복’ 이라는 작가 최정화의 비전이 농축된 또하나의 제도에 대한 실천적 개입입니다. 꿀은 중국음식점, 쌀집, 꽃집, 사진 현상소, 직원숙소용 쪽방이 번식하듯 자라난 건물 원형을 그대로 보존한 공간에 꽃땅 빠와 가슴 라운지, 가슴 스튜디오와 “꿀풀”(풀의프로젝트 실험공간)를 갖추고 있습니다. 꿀은 ‘민간인의 조형의지와 조화로움, 과정은 결과보다 중요하다, 그들에게 기회를 주고 그들을 베끼자, 일상 생활, 실천, 일상 생활이 바로 현재 예술의 무대다 전쟁터다’ 라는 작가 최정화의 발언이 육화된 반 미술관 입니다.

꿀 gguull, meaning honey in English, is an art space(representative Choi Jung-hwa) newly opens. Following up his previous trial of “Sal Bar”(1996-2008, means flash bar) for practical engagement with art and social system, the artist Choi Jung-hwa, once again organizes his perspective for restoring the relationship between arts and everyday life. The physical space of gguull has preserved an original building structures, which were once used for a collective of local stores: such as a Chinese restaurant, a rice store, a flower shop, a photo processing lab and residence for office staffs. Replaced by newly designed spots within the whole space, there are Ccott-ddang Bar, Gaseum Lounge, Gaseum Studio and “꿀풀 gguull pool, meaning honey grass in English”(experimental art project space of pool). Gguull, therefore is a reversed art museum where actualizes the artist’s statement by Choi Jung-hwa: “Aesthetic intention of civilians and a balance. Process is more important than the result. Give them a chance and copy them. Practice everyday life. Everyday life is the present stage for art. A battlefield.”
